This is going to be first home match for Chennai Super Kings in the tournament as they played their first match at Punjab. However, the away environment did not make any problem for Chennai Super Kings as they defeated Kings XI Punjab by 33 runs. For Mumbai Indians, this is going to be the first away match in the tournament as they encountered Bangalore Royal Challengers in their opening match at their home ground Wankhede Stadium, where Mumbai Indians suffered a 5 wicket defeat by the visiting side.
